Aren't dishes suppose to get clean in the dishwasher?????

So I've seen a lot of people posting recipes (this one comes from beingcreativetokeepmysanity.blogspot.com) for making their own detergents.  It's really inexpensive, and suppose to be just a good as store bought detergent.  NOT TRUE!!!  I really think my dishes came out dirtier than they were when I put them in.  Especially the glass.

Does that look clean to you?  You couldn't tell quite as much with the plastic.  I have really hard water, so maybe this recipe works well if you have soft water.  Now I just have to figure out what to do with the very large container of detergent that I can't use.  I also made the laundry detergent and had a much different experience.  Post to come!
